What this is
An MCP server that lets an AI assistant quote Workers' Compensation insurance for a US small business in conversation. It asks what an application needs, classifies the business, requests pricing from E-COMP's quote engine, and shows ballpark premiums from the carriers that matched, with a handoff into E-COMP's secure portal to complete the purchase.
It is built and operated for E-COMP NOW! Insurance Services, a licensed insurance agency. The premiums shown in chat are indications, not bound coverage: a policy is issued only through the portal, subject to underwriting.
Setup
Add it as a custom MCP connector. There is no sign-in, no API key and no account to create. The server takes no credentials from the user.

- Attach it to the conversation you want to use it in.
- Say what your business does and where it is, and the quote starts.

- Start a conversation and ask for a Workers' Comp quote.
POST. The endpoint is
stateless: each request is self-contained and the conversation's own progress is held
server-side, so nothing needs to be tracked by the client.What a quote involves
The assistant looks the business up itself where it can, so most details are shown back for correction rather than asked for one by one. Over the course of the conversation it gathers:
- the business name, address and website;
- what the business actually does, which decides the class code it is rated on;
- annual payroll and employee count;
- a few eligibility facts (other states, other locations, prior claims, current cover);
- when coverage should start.
Those details are sent to E-COMP's quote engine, which returns indications from up to six carriers. Businesses the engine cannot quote in chat (multiple states, multiple locations, or anything needing judgement) are handed to a licensed Coverage Consultant instead, with the customer's consent.
Tools
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
wc_intake | Start a Workers' Comp quote The conversation itself. It decides which question comes next, holds the answers, classifies the business against E-COMP's engine, and creates the quote. It is a multi-turn tool: the assistant calls it once to start and again after every answer. |
faq | Answer a Workers' Comp question Retrieval over E-COMP's approved applicant Q&A: coverage, pricing, eligibility, what a class code is, why payroll is asked for. Used for general questions, at any point, without disturbing a quote in progress. |
carrier-indications | Show carrier quotes Renders the interactive panel of ballpark premiums from the carriers matched to the quote, each with its financial strength rating and a button through to E-COMP's secure portal to continue. Also records which carrier the customer chose. |
None of them take a credential, and none of them charge anything. Nothing is bound or purchased in chat.
Troubleshooting
The assistant says it can't find the tools, or never calls them
Check the connector is enabled for the conversation you are in. On ChatGPT it must be attached to that specific chat, not merely installed. Confirm the server is reachable by opening this page: it is served by the same deployment as the MCP endpoint, so if this page loads, the server is up.
The conversation stops partway through and the assistant asks the questions itself
Reply "keep going". The assistant occasionally answers a turn without calling the tool again, which leaves the quote where it was; a nudge usually resumes it exactly where it left off, with nothing re-asked. If it does not, start a fresh conversation.
The premiums panel does not appear
Pricing is asked for once the business is classified and payroll is known. Carriers return at different speeds and the panel fills in as they do, so give it a few seconds. If nothing arrives at all, the business may sit outside the carriers' appetite, and the assistant then offers a licensed Coverage Consultant instead.
The industry it matched is wrong
Say so. The match is confirmed with you before it is used, and declining it offers the next-best fits; if none of them are right, the conversation routes to a human rather than pricing the wrong thing.
The business operates in more than one state
Multi-state and multi-location businesses are quoted by a person, not in chat. The conversation collects contact details and hands them to E-COMP's team.
Data handling
What the customer tells the assistant is sent to E-COMP to produce the quote, and to E-COMP's team when the customer asks to be contacted by a Coverage Consultant. It is handled under E-COMP's own privacy policy, linked below. The server holds a conversation's answers only for as long as that conversation is in progress; it has no user accounts and stores no payment details.

For anything about a quote, a policy or a claim, E-COMP's own channels are the right place:
